The AD510-10 Active Iridium Antenna is designed for use where long cable runs are required, far beyond the distances achievable with a standard passive device.
The AD510-10 is supplied with a flexible 40m (130ft) RG213U coax cable, however longer runs may be possible. Please contact us for more information on greater lengths.
The AD510-10 Active Antenna provides superior performance with all Iridium series satellite phones for external mounting in harsh or marine environments. The radomes are 4 mm GRP/polyester mix whilst the base is milled from hard anodised aluminium, giving an attractive green finish, which is mechanically resilient and resistant to corrosion. The unit is designed for free air mounting and no ground plane is required.
The AD510-10 Active Iridium Antenna has no system gain and is built so the radiated power is that of the standard Iridium phone handset. I.E. +38dB. The active is not built to add gain to the system, as many people believe, but is made to place the antenna in a more suitable position. The active can ONLY be used with the set length of coax feed (130'/40m) and CANNOT be changed as this forms part of the operating specs. If the feed coax is changed it can damage the Active elements in the unit.
There is no Lightning or Surge protection built into the Iridium AD510-10 Active Antenna system. If Lightning supression is required we recommend placing an arrestor or conductor near, but mounted higher than the Iridium Antenna.
